30 Years In Business

On June 5 1987 Seevent Plastics opened its doors for business for the very first time…..

Created from the original purchase name ‘Seebright Ventoplas’, Seevent Plastics continued the manufacture of a bomb carrying device for the MOD for which Seebright Ventoplas was known. However, it wasn’t long before the company diversified and soon became a leading name in the manufacture of Heavy Duty sacks.

The business changed hands in 2014 and Neil has continued the great ethos of the company, investing time and money into polythene development, machinery and people. Neil also recently purchased a new company Polyplus Packaging, which specialises in Anti-Static and Anti-Corrosive packaging, ensuring the Seevent brand continues its legacy to be one of the most recognised names in the plastic manufacturing industry.

Seevent buys Polyplus Packaging

Seevent Plastics has great pleasure to announce the completed acquisition of Polyplus Packaging Ltd.

Over the past couple of months Seevent Plastics has been in talks with Polyplus Packaging Ltd, a successful specialised packaging business based in Reading, Berkshire  The sale completed on the 1st September 2016 and will be a welcome addition to the Seevent Group of Companies.

Beat the Business Blues

As the bright lights of Christmas become a distant memory and the celebrations of a new year start to fade…..January takes on a hue of the winter blues.

One of the toughest months of the year, January is not only hard on us the consumers but it is also one of the toughest months for business.  During December the economy sees a buoyant rise as the spendthrift consumer happily shops for all the delights the festive season offers. However, as the dawn breaks and we see the light of an ever lasting January we shut up shop and huddle in the warm until the long awaited payday emerges, and although this helps us the consumer, its not good for business……. so what can we do?

Conduct a Survey – Now is a great time to involve your customers — let them help shape your business in 2016 by providing a greater understanding of their particular needs, and as a thank you for their time why not offer them a time-limited voucher which will make them feel valued, increase your winter sales and encourage repeat business.

Trim Expenses – It’s time to look at your outgoings, can you reduce your bills? electric, phone, insurance, shipping etc? is it cheaper to buy bulk now rather than smaller purchases throughout the year? remember everyone is looking to increase business at this time of the year too so a deal can be had!!  spending less will also improve your net income.

Network – Networking is vital to any business and whilst it’s quiet it’s a great time to meet new contacts and strengthen your brand.

Look for opportunities – January is also a time when desperate landlords make deals to keep premises occupied. If competitors are going bust or scaling back, it might be time to be more aggressive to widen your particular market share.

Learn – Make sure you are up to date with any technology and industry trends that will make your business a success. We are never too old to learn and increasing your knowledge and skills now will lay the groundwork for success in 2016, no matter what the economy does.

So how will you beat the January blues?

Seevent Plastics Win Manufacturing & Construction Award

adur awards5

A fantastic night was had by all on Friday 13th November especially for Seevent Plastics who won the Manufacturing and Construction Award at the Worthing & Adur Business Awards 2015.

Although Seevent Plastics Ltd has been manufacturing heavy duty plastic bags for nearly 30 years this is the first award we have entered and as such are extremely proud. However this would not be possible without our customers, suppliers and staff and we would therefore like to thank everyone for their continued support.

On a roll………….

Following our success as finalists in the TMMX awards we have also just been named finalist in two categories for the Adur & Worthing Business Awards 2015.

To make the finals in any awards is a great privilege and we understand that without our customers, suppliers and employees this would not be possible, therefore we would like to say a big thank to all those that have supported us on our journey and look forward to many more years working together.

We would also like to wish all the finalist in both the TMMX and Adur & Worthing Business Awards good luck.

Summer sun something’s begun…….

As the summer holidays begin we look forward to a week or two of relaxation, however as June , August and September are traditionally the busiest months in the holiday calendar it may not be as relaxed as we might have hoped.

The ‘staycation’ although fallen out of favour in the past to sunnier climes with just 45% of the population opting to stay at home in 2014, is set to rise again, but is the promise of sun, sea and sand still too great?

Recent figures show we still prefer to travel to distant shores for our holidays, rising from 11,666 in 1980 to 38,519 last year. Spain remains the top destination with over 20.4% of the population opting for sangria, followed closely by America, France and Greece, with an average stay of 10.3 nights.

However, choosing our holiday destination has changed over the years as we have become more techie, opting to check out what people are saying about our holiday destination through social media rather than the traditional review sites, and with the introduction of selfies 8 out of 10 of us are taking our mobiles or tablets abroad instead of cameras and using apps such as weather and maps.

But wherever you choose to spend your holidays enjoy your summer naaiiiights !!!!

‘The Seevent Stars’ Race for Life

JustGiving - Sponsor me now!
We have all experienced loss in our life at some time or another, and most of us would have experienced the loss through cancer.
In the UK today there are an estimated 2.5 million people who have been diagnosed with cancer, which is an increase of almost half a million in comparison to the previous five years. If we continue to increase at this rate by 2030 four million people could be living with this horrendous disease. A scary thought!!  however the proportion of people living longer after cancer is increasing, and the number of people alive and surviving more than 5 years from initial diagnosis is predicted to more than double between 2010 and 2030 to 2.7 million.
Although research and development has come along way in treating this disease it takes a huge amount of funding, some of which we can help with? we can all play our part, whether we ride a bike for miles, climb a mountain, bake a cake or like ‘The Seevent Stars’ enter the Race for Life……or you can provide support in the way of a donation and here’s your chance!! so just click on the donate button below to pledge anything from a £1 to £100 its upto you.
